Charter

This is not a manifesto, nor is it a policy statement. It is just a Charter for a genuine Democratic Party.

WE, THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED FORCE, BELIEVE:

1. That all people are equal under God;
2. That the purpose of government is to fulfill the needs of the people and to safeguard their rights.

WE BELIEVE that the needs of the people are:

(1) Peace - to live their own lives without fear, coercion or
molestation.
(2) Security - the assurance of adequate food, clothing and
housing.
(3) Citizenship - the opportunity to earn a living and to
participate as an equal, irrespective of race or creed, in
the communal effort, both material and spiritual.
(4) Freedom - the opportunity to develop as individuals
through education and to enjoy a reasonable amount of
leisure.

WE BELIEVE that the rights of the People are:

(1) Full education for citizenship and Leisure.
(2) Participation in Government by the exercise of the
franchise at definite periods.
(3) Participation according to their talents in the productive
effort of the community, and a fair share of the fruits of
such effort.
(4) Freedom under law of association for political,
economic, religious, Trade Union and other purposes,
and freedom of expression in speech and writing.
(5) Freedom from arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, and
from inhuman police and penal procedure.
